Meet the author
Stories inspired by the wild heart of Florida.

Toni Cuevas
Teacher. Explorer. Storyteller.
“I am a Floridian, teacher, and author.”
When Toni is not reading and writing with her students, she can be found kayaking, fishing, or hiking along the beautiful Florida Nature Coast with her family, collecting stories as she explores.
Her writing is inspired by the wild heart of Florida: its resilient wildlife, changing skies, quiet waterways, and the neighbors who care for one another when storms arrive.
Why Florida?
The landscape is part of the story.
From sandy scrub to spring-fed rivers and the Gulf coast, Florida's Nature Coast offers young readers a world of texture, color, wildlife, and wonder.
Toni's stories invite children to recognize the extraordinary world close to home and to see themselves as thoughtful neighbors and future stewards of it.
